Lakeshore Pembroke Welsh Corgi Rescue was incorporated in 2007. Originally a committee of the Lakeshore Pembroke Welsh Corgi Breed Club, the rescue choose to become a separate entity in order to qualify for 501c3 status. This status allows donations to be tax deductible and to allows us to write proposals for various grants. We are still closely affiliated with Lakeshore Pembroke Welsh Corgi Breed club and the majority of our volunteers are members.
Our rescue primarily works to support purebred corgis in the Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota area, but we occasionally take in corgis from other rescues that need assistance. We accept owner surrenders as well as rescue dogs from shelters and other rescues. If you need to surrender your corgi please look in our "Contact" section for more information.
If you are interested in adding one of our wonderful corgis to your family, check out
our available dogs.
Adopting a friend
- There is an adoption fee of between $250 and $350, depending on the age of the dog, and you will be asked to sign an adoption agreement which states that you will provide a certain level of care for the dog and that should you have to give up your corgi for any reason, you will notify Lakeshore so that we may take the dog back.
- All adopters are required to fill out an application which will be put on file and make you part of our waiting list. If you need an application mailed to you, email Nikki Hynes at mi.corgirescue@Yahoo.com and she will be happy to send you one.
- We prefer to have your application mailed electronically as we are able to process them faster. You may submit your application via US postal mail, but it will take longer to complete the process.

The Iowa Castaways
On Sunday April 13, 2008, the Lakeshore Pembroke Welsh Corgi Rescue took in thirteen dogs from an Iowa puppy mill. Ten of these dogs came to North Central Wisconsin and are being cared for there. We have decided to call these dogs the Iowa Castaways and have named them after the good folks on Gilligan's Island(and had to add in a few other names as well).
